Writing about good news
It’s great to be able to write about some good news today, the release of BBC journalist Alan Johnston after 114 days in captivity. I was listening to first his parents then Alan himself on the radio this morning, expressing their gratitude for the support they’d had from people all over the world, praying and campaigning for his release. One of the things that struck me most was that Alan had been given access to a radio, which meant he had been aware, even in the darkest days of captivity, that people were thinking of him and working on his behalf. He’d heard, from another distant part of the world, that people were signing the on-line petition, heard the words of support and encouragement from friends and strangers alike.
Even if we can’t see the impact at the time, our words and actions count.
Every single voice can make a difference.
