How curiosity fuels my writing

3 December, 2007 Posted by Joanna As Snippets

Curiosity fuels my writing.  Curiosity about new ideas, new ways of thinking, new things to learn.  Curiosity about people and what makes them tick.  Curiosity about places and the people who live in them.  Curiosity about ways that we can bridge the gaps between us through language, words, an open enquiring mind, and the possibilities of digital technology.

It’s one of the reasons I enjoy writing not just here but with and for other bloggers too.

It’s why I write with Claire Raikes at her Business Blog Angel site.  It gives me a chance to delve deeper into some of the more technical sides of blogging, challenges me to experiment with new technology to deliver a snazzy product as befits her site, and gets me learning about and writing for a different audience (coaches, solopreneurs, business owners).  Last week saw me experimenting with my first video tutorial.  If you’re curious, you can check it out here.  It’s on ways you can use StumbleUpon as part of your blogging strategy.

It’s why I’ve just joined Karen Wallace and the rest of the team at The Calm Space.  This is a magazine style blog that’s described as a ‘virtual day spa for the senses…’  This month’s theme is celebration and my contribution is on ways that we can Get Ready to Celebrate with the Gift of Words.  There’s a prize draw running each month for subscribers - this time it’s 3 month’s subscription to the Working Solo Support Service - technology know how and support from Leah Maclean.

And of course it’s why I write about the possibilities of joyful jubilant learning with a community of creative, innovative, supportive writers, learners and leaders at a blog of the same name…

The Business Blog Angel’s in Wales.   Karen and the rest of the Calm Space team - up to now - are in Australia.  Rosa edits and supports Joyful Jubilant Learning from Hawaii.

And when I switch on my machine on a frosty Monday morning in Edinburgh, I can feel those connections sizzle around the globe.  It’s no wonder my fingers start itching to write.

Joanna, I’d like to echo Leah’s words, and the sentiment - it really IS great to have you as part of our team. You and your writing bring another, very special, dimension to The Calm Space. I do envisage a very international team as we grow.

“…I can feel those connections sizzle around the globe…” ahh, yes the power of the internet is truly, truly amazing, isn’t it?

Hi Leah and Karen

Thanks so much for the warm welcome, both here and over there! I am delighted to be starting out on this adventure with you all - I wonder just where it will take us? :-)
