Jamie, thanks for reminding me of that post of yours. You're right, these are simple ways of sharing a bit more about ourselves which is a great way of making a more powerful connection. I'd see that as a big part of an overall purpose in blogging (it certainly is for me) so it wouldn't conflict with other things I wanted to write, and as you say, can add a lot of value. The problem comes when you get too many or they seem to be too far off topic - and working out whether and how to tag other people...

Joanna

By the way when did Jamie Dog join the blogging team at Terinea? :-)

I think tagging can be good in moderation and add's value to the post in some cases.

I did something similar back in August

@ Brad maybe it all depends on how we look at things - sometimes all I see are dark streets, tired stressed looking people, run down shops, too much traffic... within the same 10 minute radius from my house. Although some green space and water nearby does make a big difference I know :-) Glad you like the tidying up job - more redesign work to follow!

@ Monika, wow that sounds like a great place to live. Go on, I dare you to switch off the laptop and head out and enjoy it!

Hi Joanna,

That was a lovely post and very inspirational. It actually made me smile since I'm also fortunate enough to live in paradise being complimented by chill-out groove sound in the back ground, a range of wild birds in the garden who are mostly tame and my own two baby cockatiels. Life couldn't be much better in terms of the whole atmosphere in which I work.

And if I ever manage to step out and take a break, the beach is only 2 minutes walk. But I'll be damned to achieve this sometime soon. I seemed to be glued to my laptop. LOL

Oh yes, and nice job cleaning up your sidebars. Your blog is loading much faster now. Who says you can't do spring cleaning in December?

You live in a beautiful spot, Joanna, just the sort of place where a writer ought to live.

@ Jim I have mixed feelings about tags. They can be a good way of making contacts for sure. Actually I 'met' Terry as a result of your tag from him, reminding me of why they're so worthwhile.

I'm often reluctant to tag others though - it's easy to start getting burdened by the stuff you're 'supposed' to write rather than the stuff you want to write...

As for the canal, I lived in Edinburgh many years before discovering it. It starts up at Fountainbridge near the Scottish & Newcastle site (now being dismantled) and runs out in the Slateford direction. I think they did quite a lot of work on it probably in the last 10 years to make it more accessible to pedestrians and cyclists. It's a life-saver for me.

@Emma There are so many different faces to Edinburgh. I'm looking forward to showing you some of my favourites

I loved this post Joanna. Made me feel like I was really there.

I can't wait to come and see your Edinburgh in June and see how this plays out in real life.

Enjoyed your approach to the meme. I had to say I fretted a bit when I got tagged myself. I'm not one for pushing myself on other people, which does me no favours on the Web, but the whole point being here is to make contact isn't it?

I've had the opportunity to spend quite a bit of time in Edinburgh. I used to go on training courses there and wandered all over the city. I never came across the canal though. The last time I was there was ten years ago and I have to say it had lost some of its romanticism. Maybe it was just me.
