20 reasons to go to SobCon08

SobCon08, a biz school for bloggers, is taking place in Chicago at the start of May. I know I want to be there – and there are at least 20 reasons why.
It’s because I’d get to:
- meet Liz Strauss in person
- visit the US for the first time – I never wanted to until I started blogging, but I now feel so much more curious
- see Chicago
- try a much-talked-about Klondike bar
- make good use of the guide book to Chicago my son gave me for Christmas (how did he know?)
- spot some landmarks that I’d recognise from ER (one of my all time favourite TV shows)
- have an excuse to order some Moo cards
- see Robert Hruzek eating haggis (well he did promise)
- take part in Open Mic night without having to stay up till 2am
- meet some great blogging friends
- meet some of my fellow authors at Joyful Jubilant Learning
- meet some readers of Confident Writing
- listen to the man who teaches us how to craft killer headlines
- find out if Chris Brogan’s input will be in person, by blog, tweet, video or…?
- learn how to take my blog to the next level
- share what I learn with you here
- pass on tips and ideas to Business Blog Angel readers
- apply business techniques to my blogging
- see how it all connects: blogging lets us write with greater confidence after all…
- meet Liz Strauss in person (did I say that already?)
Let’s see if we can’t add some more goodies to this list: if I do make it will I get to see you there?
Joanna, thanks so much for your post! I’d be happy to arrange that meeting with Liz in Chicago.
And can I join in on the viewing of Mr. Hruzek eating haggis?
I too am hopeful we can also have a JJL meetup at SOBCon – talk about doubling our pleasure!!
I’m looking forward to meeting you – see you in Chicago! Thanks again, and all the best.
Hi Terry, thanks for calling by. If I manage to get Robert eating the haggis it’ll deserve a video blog!
It would be great to meet some other JJLers if that was possible, but I know that SobCon will be a fantastic experience in itself – I’m looking forward to seeing you there

Hi Joanna!
You betcha we’re going to meet in Chicago! I wouldn’t have it any other way. You’re an important part of my life! I want to meet you in Edinburgh next time I’m there too. Meeting you is a regular goal in my life.
Well, I can’t say that I’ll make it but I can’t wait to read what you share here!
And… thanks for your very sweet comment you left me today. I appreciate it!
Smiles,
Michele
Liz, meeting you in Edinburgh would just be the cat’s pyjamas!
Joanna
Michele, rest assured that I’ll be sharing my learning here. We can have a virtual biz blog school all to ourselves.
No worries about the comment – I only say what I mean you know
Joanna
Hi Joanne – thanks for your kind words on Problogger.
Those are great reasons for wanting to visit Chicago. And I see you live in Edinburgh which is one of my favourite places in the whole world.
Have you checked flyglobespan and zoom for cheap flights. I’m not certain on what cities they fly into – but they both have cheap flights to the USA. And if you go to skyscanner.net – they log you into the Canadian version of zoom which works out cheaper still.
Hope you get to go.
Catherine, thanks for the suggestions on flights – I’ll look into that as soon as I know I’ll be able to the conference – don’t want to jinx it just now…
I’m so touched that you followed me here from the blog tips competition – what a great idea. And congrats on winning the competition – it was a fun one to enter, but I was glad it was one by someone with such a ‘sound’ blogging tip.
Best wishes
Joanna
Hey Joanna – I’ll be there too! Looking forward to firming up our JJL connection! Whoo-hoo!
Hi Phil, well I’m not counting my chickens until the registration opens…but I really hope I’ll be there. The chance to meet up with bloggers in person would be fantastic – esp if we can arrange a JJL hook up of some sort. So fingers crossed I’ll see you there!
