The power of our words

For Martin Luther King Jr Day, Brian Clark shares The Martin Luther King, Jr. Guide to Inspirational Copy

Phil Gerbyshak reminds us of the power of Dr King’s words to inspire us, reflects on the teachings that have become part of his own personal philosophy, and asks us to share some of the King quotes that move and inspire us.

This is one of my favourites:

If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.

Imagine if we all worked with that sense of purpose and intention.

And imagine what would happen if we applied that same focus, that passion and intensity to our writing.  What a difference our words could make.
