Good for you Yvonne! It's definitely worth giving it a go. It's not my favourite way of working at all, but I'm glad to have done enough to know that I can...

It was fun doing the interview and that's another very popular and successful formula of course (though it strikes me it must be quite a lot more work)

Good luck with it & let us know how you get on - plus link to podcast of course :-)

Joanna

Hi Joanna
I enjoyed the podcast and am working on giving it a go myself. Thanks for the inspiration.

--Deb, point very much taken.

As a reader and listener I'm with you, totally. I can read way faster than I can listen, and I find listening deeply frustrating whether it's on the machine or away from it.

But I've come to realise that we do all learn in different ways, and that if there are some people who'd prefer to learn how to write with confidence through a podcast... then I'll need to learn how to try and teach them that way... even if it still feels kind of odd to me.

I'll just say that I don't resist podcasting because I'm afraid or because I don't like my voice. It's because, basically, I don't like podcasts. I mean, in theory, I think they're great. I understand how handy it is to be able to download one to your MP3 player so you're not tied to the computer. Except, I simply cannot abide listening to things through headphones (and don't get me started on those uncomfortable earbuds), which means that, if I want to listen to a podcast, I HAVE to do it at my computer. Which means I can't do anything else, because who can write and listen at the same time?

I like the idea of podcasts, but the reality? I'd rather just read a post. Besides, I read a whole lot faster than the podcasters talk, too--it's more efficient for me to read.
