I just wanted to let you know about a group writing project that we’ve launched in connection with our writing workshops in Italy.
It’s on the theme of your ideal writing weekend. It’s partly to give us great ideas and suggestions that we’ll use to plan the shape and content of the workshops scheduled for next spring (second half of April / early May).
You can find out more about the competition here, but meantime here are the ‘rules’ (I do hate that word! but it’s a competition, so I suppose we do need them):
My Ideal Writing Weekend
Tell us about the ingredients of your ideal writing weekend. That might be a weekend you’ve already enjoyed, one that you’ve got planned, or one that you’re hoping to take part in, some day.
You might talk about how this relates to the writing process: getting past writer’s block, finding the right words, tapping into your muse.
Feel free to relate your piece to your writing or blogging purpose
You can include a mixture of pictures and words, with a word limit of 500 words.
Posting Guidelines:
1. Post your entry on your own blog by midnight Friday 1st August Monday 1st September (your time): Please note extension to deadline
2. Link back to Absorbing Writing: Writing Workshops In Italy
3. Send us an e-mail at info@absorbingwriting.com to make sure we’ve got your entry
4. Let your readers know it’s part of a competition – who knows, they might want to join in!
5. Keep it G rated please ![]()

Can I be bold and ask what a G rating is, Joanna?
I wish everyone the best with this competition. It’ll be great to read the responses
Scott, of course
It’s a nod to my American readers. G rating is from the US film classification system – suitable for general audiences

I was going to include the UK version then got into a fankle as to whether it was U, or PG, or something else that would make me feel old because I was referring to a system 20 years out of date… and gave up

ROFL! Joanna, I got excited about the contest and then read the comments and fell apart with laughter at your quandary with the rating system. LOL! This is a wonderful idea and Lea will be a wonderful judge. I’ll have to put my thinking cap on for this one. Thanks for always inspiring us to write Joanna!

Joanna, this contest sounds wonderful! I already have an idea about it, but I want to think hard before putting it on paper.
If anyone ever needs to know it is AG in Romania – Audienta Generala – General audiences that it
Thanks for the constant inspiration,
Alina
Karen, Alina I’m glad you’re feeling inspired already!
I’m glad my fankle made you laugh. I think I’ll use Audienta Generala in future
