Every so often I come across things on the Internet that stop me dead in my tracks. Switch on a lightbulb in my head. Hit me slap bang in the middle of the forehead. Pierce straight through my heart.
This is one I read yesterday, written by Glenda Watson Hyatt. It’s simple, personal, powerful writing at its very best.
Words that will truly make a difference.
If you have time, please do read this post: The Gift Is Within.

Joanna, I was not familiar with this beautiful woman and am so thankful that you shared this link. Her words and spirit are beautiful. I too was stopped in my tracks as I just gave thanks for the gift we all possess inside. Far too much focus is on the wrapping paper. Bless Glenda for encouraging M and in so doing all who read as well.

What an inspirational post to start my day. I’m going to borrow the message when I send a Christmas card to my sister who is severely disabled. Thank you for giving me a way to tell her how much is is loved and how important she is to me. Thank you so much.

Karen, I’m glad to introduce you to Glenda. She’s a wonder. I agree, her words to M have applicability to all of us who read, and I bet all of us can think of someone we love who could do with that wee reminder.
JD, me too. It’s astonishing what power those stories have to move and connect us.
Bo, thank you for sharing how you’ll pass on these words. I’m sure that will mean a great deal to Glenda. I have a feeling that many people will be borrowing and sharing the gift of words she’s given us, and passing it on to others.
Joanna, thank you for sharing this link with us. I ‘met’ Glenda when before her book was published. She did an interview somewhere (I don’t recall where now), and I was SO impressed with her wisdom and her ‘can do’ personality.

Tammie, I’m glad you enjoyed it. I first ‘met’ Glenda then too. She’s a force to be reckoned with indeed.
Kevin, thank you for that feedback. Much appreciated. I’m glad Glenda’s writing resonated with you. I found them very moving and really had to share!
Joanna,
It certainly was a touching post, and I will repeat my comment from Glenda’s discussion here:
A very good friend of my family struggled with CP for almost seventy years before her passing earlier this year.
When she pased, I remember thinking that out of all of the people whom I respected and had been an inspiration to me, Jill was close to the top of the list.
Throughout her life, it was extremely difficult for Jill to either talk properly or walk properly. But through courage and determination, Jill rose above her circumstances to make a wonderful contribution to the world, travelling many countries, writing several books and maintaining an attitude of gentleness, kindness and love no matter what came her way.
In the same way, I most certainly hope that M is able to live a life of contribution and love, in spite of her circumstances.

Andrew, thank you for sharing that. I’m sure your words will mean a great deal to both Glenda and M.
Thanks for the recommendation, Joanna. I’ll check out Glenda’s site and hopefully, I can dig up some treasure there…
