It’s the end of the month already and another theme draws to its close. I don’t know about you but I’ve really enjoyed working on this one. Writing about audacity all month has made me feel a lot more audacious!
As usual I’m left with a whole lot of ideas that I didn’t have time to write up, but one that I did want to share before the close was the the song that’s been playing along with me for the last few weeks.
It was “Fear and Love” by Morcheeba. You can watch and listen to it here.
I think I’d define audacity as the choice to move beyond the limits of fear.
And whether that’s audacious goals, audacious writing or audacious living the choices you make will encourage others too, however hard the way ahead might seem.
We always have a choice
Or at least I think we do
We can always use our voice
I thought this to be true
We can live in fear
Extend our selves to love
We can fall below
Or lift our selves above
We can always use our voice. Let’s make sure we use it audaciously!
This concludes the theme of audacity. February’s theme will be revealed on Monday.

Hi Joanna. Morcheeba is one of my favourite groups! I can’t remember whose blog this was on now, but I left a comment about fear to the effect that “fear is a symptom of having arrived”. You know you’re on the brink of “something”. January WAS an audacious month — I enjoyed. I’m looking forward to see what you’ve come up with for next month. Have a great weekend.

I love Morcheeba too, and there’s a great deal of truth there.

Joanna, I have absolutely loved this theme this month. In following along, I found myself making mistakes, failing miserably and wondering if I had just plain lost my way. Then right on cue, last night and this morning I had a breakthrough and the tests that I seemingly failed all made sense. Right on cue, I’ve made it to phase 1 of living and writing audaciously. To get there I had to fail for failing meant I was taking risks. Thanks for the help Joanna, it was tough but worth it. I would love for this theme to go on but I know you have something good cooked up for February!

Davina, like you I remember a conversation – maybe on Twitter – about comfort zones and getting out of them. The answer was that you’ll inevitably come up against your fears – and need to look them in the eye and move past them. That’s the only way you can ‘arrive’ as you so neatly put it. Have a great weekend too.
Joely, the song is probably more thoughtful than audacious but I love the way it captures the choices we have… each and every day. And it really has been playing along with me this month.
Karen, you are a wonderful risk taker… partly because you’re not afraid to stumble and fall. I’m glad you’ve found your way to the next phase, whatever that means to you. Although we’ll move on to something else next month… audacity doesn’t stop! I’m certainly going to be taking this one with me for the rest of the year.
Still going Ka-Pow! over the site.
Can’t wait to see next month’s theme!

George, thank you
I keep on looking at it and going ‘wow!’ too
Gennaro – I haven’t heard that before, but I like it. And how vivid and real it can appear. Learning how to call fear’s bluff is so important – and something I think we can help each to do… to grow, and thrive.
Thanks for the thought, and helping me find the hook into
nextthis month’s theme.Joanna, you said,
“I think I’d define audacity as the choice to move beyond the limits of fear.”
and I think it’s a great definition. It’s a choice I would like to make more in the weeks and months to come. Such a fabulous word; a keeper.
Rosa Says last blog post..Set your price, charge it, and stand behind it
Rosa, when I thought about the definition I knew it needed the addition of positive intention… but I know you’ll set that anyway. Thanks for popping in – means a lot to me to know you’re still there
Hi Joanna – This has been a great theme. Now I’m looking forward to the one you pick for February.
I love how you reminded us that we all have a choice. Too often people feel they’re stuck, when in fact, if they stop and analyze their situation, opportunities abound.
Barbara Swaffords last blog post..SEO – Are We Getting It All Wrong
Barbara, I agree we always have a choice. As Maya Angelou put it, if you don’t like your situation, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude towards it. The second being possibly more audacious than the first!
Joanna, we have three options here:
1. Love = Life
2. Fear = No life
3. Love and Fear = Transform the miserable life into a blessing life!
The wise person will know how to choose the correct life path…
