Writing Retreat in Italy: May 2009

by Joanna on January 14, 2009

As some of you will know I’m running a writing retreat in Sardinia, Italy, in early May of this year. (Jointly with Emma Bird from How to Italy)

We’ve identified the ideal place to host a retreat on the island… a simple but beautiful agriturismo near the Costa Smerelda.  You’ll get an idea for what the place is like by flicking through this slideshow (RSS readers or e-mail subscribers, you might need to pop over to access the slides).

A writing retreat might just be the thing you need to help you achieve your audacious writing goals in 2009.

Here are some of the reasons why – from 10 Things You Want from a Writing Holiday in 2009

The freedom to walk, talk, write, eat, drink, laugh, cry, learn… and write some more

A place that will make you feel restful, safe, at home

An environment that will make you feel optimistic, energised, inspired

A burst of sunshine (without frying in the heat).  Light and warmth to write.

Time, support and feedback to get that writing project moving.  Or done.

Or it might be just the thing a friend or colleague needs.  If so, please do pass the information on!

Many thanks.

Unfortunately, with work commitments, a writing retreat is a bit of a pipe dream for me. However, I do know a couple of people who have been on and enjoyed retreats before, so I’ll pass the info on.

Writing retreats are useful. Writing retreats on an Italian island are unforgettable :)

I see a theme for the workshop and it has a lot to do with yummy food.

Breathtaking! La Coste Esmeralda in Sardegna, is the most beautiful place ever. You can’t say you’ve really been to Italy unless you see this splendid place. Talk about inspiration!

J D, thanks for the good wishes

Iain, thanks, it’s appreciated

Lilly, hopefully we’ll be running them in 2010 too. Will keep you posted

Bo, hmmmm!

Gennaro, you found us out ;-) Two answers: one, food & drink is great for waking up your senses… The other, Emma and I happen to love good food!

Lucy, indeed. I’ve only seen a bit of it so far, but Emma keeps on making me drool with anticipation about what’s to come…

Joanna,
The writing workshop sounds great. I am still thinking about participating. I’d love to hear more about the programme – is there a place where I can find more information? Thanks in advance!

Ulla, glad you’re still thinking about it :-) The information on what’s included is to be found at Absorbing Writing but I’ll e-mail you tomorrow too

Andy, interesting how the guys who write about travel are the ones who spot the info on the food and drink!
