The thing that's so interesting about writing or blogging is that it's meant to be read. Unless it's a private diary. It screams for an audience. Having a community helps with the feedback that's necessary to write or blog effectively. There is a great book called Writing Without Teachers by Peter Elbow. Great for people who use writing groups for their projects (books, articles, etc).
