The Courage To Hear Yourself Sing: Free E-Book

by Joanna on May 25, 2009

Blogging archives are a great resource when you’re taking a bit of a breather… as I apparently still am;-)

Following on from Friday’s post sharing my first poem, I thought it might be an appropriate time to share once again the first e-book I published here.

It’s The Courage To Hear Yourself Sing: 5 Takes on Authentic Writing.

The Courage to Hear Yourself Sing

It followed a month of conversations around the first theme I tackled here: authenticity.  Here’s an extract from the e-book on what authenticity means in writing:

When we’re talking about authenticity, about authentic writing – well we know it’s about more than a conversational style. It’s about tapping into our power, our source, our sense of self in order to tell things the way that they are. It’s about the connections that follow – the way our words can sizzle and fly, make a searing connection with someone else who recognises something of themselves, their story, in your words.

The e-book is free, and comes with a Creative Commons Licence, which means please do:

  • Read
  • Download
  • Pass it on!

I hope you enjoy the e-book.  Feedback, as always, is welcome.

For me no list. I have read it already:) Nice eBook. But for me, its all written already. What you bring us looks like a clon of “On writing well” and “100 way how to improve your writing”.

Nice work.

I like how you connected the dots to write like yourself and authenticity. It’s about finding your fit versus fitting yourself and the inside out approach is more sustainable and wins in the end.

Alex thanks – I hope you find it a refreshing read. It’s quite short and hopefully easy to follow

Kamil well I guess that’s what comes of posting something from my archives ;-) I just figured some people wouldn’t have noticed it was there

J D thanks – I like that phrase “the inside out approach” – you’re right, it does win in the end, in writing as in life ;-)

Thanks, but no thanks, Joanna. I knew I’m a very terrible singer with all the pitching voice and weak falsetto problem! lol

By the way, I’ve downloaded the PDF file. I can’t even wait to discover the treasure inside the e-book… Thanks for the free stuff, Joanna.
