The Book, and 5 Ways You Can Help
Drum roll please…
The book is finally here. Yes, that’s right. The book. THE book.
The book of the blog is finally here.
199 Ways to Write with Confidence is a compilation of the best of the Confident Writing blog.
According to the blurb (which admittedly, I wrote):
It’s packed full of writing tips, virtual coaching, ideas and inspiration to give you the self-belief and writing skills you need to write with confidence.
I got a lot of help from all of you in writing and publishing the book: giving me the idea, then the encouragement, and the motivation to keep going – not to mention all the feedback you’ve given me on the posts which have worked their way into the book.
Now I need a bit more help with what happens next. Here’s how:
5 Ways You Can Help
1. Buy a copy of the book
You can buy a copy of the book from the Writing Space online store. Click here to purchase a copy, or click on this image of the store front (that’s the site you’ll get taken to).
It costs £7.99 plus postage and packaging.
[Update: that's about $13 USD, plus p&p - Paypal will calculate the exact amount for you.]
If you’d like a signed copy please let me know in the ‘instructions to merchant’ box in the final page (on Paypal).
2. Buy a copy for a friend
3. Tell other people who might enjoy it
4. Let me know if you write about at your place
(I’ll include a link to reviews and references in the buy the book page)
5. Share your good ideas for spreading the word
Marketing isn’t my strong suit, so if you’ve got ideas for things I could or should be doing to get the book out there, to make it easier to find or to buy, please do nudge, hint, cajole, encourage.
Thank you

Great stuff Joanna – how exciting! You should definitely think about selling through an affiliate scheme. You have a great community here who would be more than happy I’d expect to help you push and promote the book. I know ejunkie is good for digital products – not sure how it works otherwise though.
But anyway – good luck!
How exciting for you, for us! Pounds sterling, hmm? That causes a bit of befuddlement of us on the other side of the pond. Or at least for me! Dollars maybe? I know the dollar’s weak now, but still, it spends.
Congrats! I’m off to order it now!

Joanna, congratulations! I will happily spread the word! When working with my author clients, we use blogs (guest posts, reviews), radio, newspaper, direct mail, email and social media to drive visibility. Now, off to secure my copy!

Congratulations Joanna!..I’ll be ordering that for myself for Christmas!! All the best, & I’ll be spreading the word among my friends
A book? This is fabulous, Joanna. I’m having mine sent to the UK, which means that I won’t be able to comment on it until December. The wait will make it extra special, extra sweet, for sure. You go girl!

Joanna, you asked for advice about marketing your new book… google ‘Post2Post’. It is a wonderful idea for both bloggers and writers.

Woots! Congrats on getting the book published! May purchase it later; will need to see as I’m currently broke. XD
Hi Joanna,
Congratulations on launching your book. As a business development person, I would love to see you succeed beyond measure.
You may want to consider the following points to assist in your sales promotion efforts – in no particular order:
a) Offer a table of contents for preview;
b) Offer a sample chapter;
c) List feedback from your pre-release ‘readers’ as to why this book is a must-have;
d) Put a short video of you talking about the book and why it’s so valuable to people;
e) Run a writing competition for readers of the book based on a key skill/technique that you discuss in the book;
f) Collect feedback/ratings from readers of the book – post them on your site;
g) State very clearly the benefits of the book and why it is a ‘must-buy’ for your readers;
h) Write a series of blog posts previewing, referring to and/or building upon key concepts mentioned in the book.
These are just a few quick thoughts to get you started. Really excited for you Joanna.
Best to you,
Robin

Wishing you every success with the book from launch day +1 onwards.
I’m looking forward to being an active supporter too

Hey Joanna,
Fair play to ya
I’m getting my copy now.
Conor
Thanks, everyone, for your support. Much appreciated
@Iain – good point. I was trying to sell the book through e-junkie but got stumped with postage and packaging – in the end I gave up and went with a simpler option. I might come back to trying to find an affiliate scheme later though.
@Bo, I’ve added a reference to the $ option in the post – it’s simple really, paypal does it all for you…
@ Cat, thanks, will check out post2post
@ Naoko, I should have added that option as #6: buy a copy later, when you’re no longer broke
No worries, I understand
@ Robin, thanks so much for taking the time to share those pointers, I’ll see how I can put them into action
@ Paul, thanks
Hi Joanna – Congratulations. I will definitely recommend your book on my blog. And I second Iain’s suggestions for using e-junkie. I think they only charge you something like $5 a month.
Today works out to $16.93–a bargain! Just ordered my copy too

Joanna: you rock! Congratulations!
Thanks for the feedback and support everyone
It is ridiculously scary putting a book out into the world, but it’s easier having this network of support… plus the pleasure that comes with dispatching copies to the US, Canada, Australia, Germany, Spain… thank you
My review is up, Joanna. Thanks so much for the great book!
