Can Writing Keep Us Well? Group Writing Project

It is a while… more than a while… since I last ran a group writing project, and I thought it might be interesting to run one over the early summer.

Fishing around in my mind for topics that we haven’t already covered, I thought about one that is of particular interest to me: the relationship between writing, health, and well-being.

The invitation is an open one: to write on the subject of writing, health and well-being.

That might include thoughts, reflections, wishes, past experience, future intention, observation, questions, hopes on:

  • How the process of writing might be good for health
  • Times in your life when writing has helped keep you well, or deal with illness
  • How we use different forms (stories, poems, prose, journal writing) in response to different situations
  • What kind of content might be good for health (or bad for it)
  • What kind of role writing can / does / play in relation to the health not just of individuals but communities, society, the planet

To take part all you need to do is:

  • Write a post on the subject of writing, health and well-being
  • Link back to this post, so your readers can see the original invitation and join in if they want to (and to spread a little link love)
  • Let me know your post is up by sharing it via the Mister Linky widget below (it asks for your name and the url of the post)

* Please link to the url of the specific post you’ve written rather than the home page of your site so I can find your contribution easily *

You should (fingers crossed) then be able to see – at the foot of this post – the links to all the contributions as they come in.

  • Post your contribution by the end of July.  (Yes, I am giving lots of time for this one… I don’t want to rush it, or you to miss out on the chance to join in).

What I’ll Do in Return

I will:

Post a round up of the entries in the first half of August, including a link to your post.

I might also create an ebook with extracts from the best material… no promises, as it depends a bit on time, the number of responses, and what kind of amazing things you come up with.

I do though think this is a really interesting and important topic and would like to find ways to spread the word.
